Hong Kong launched the 5G network last month, and citizens have faster Internet access. Some innovative companies have also used 5G to develop new products. However, some telecommunications companies said that the network will not cover the entire Hong Kong until the end of the year.

A doctor said, “Hello, roger, where are you feeling unwell?”

A person said, ”Doctor, my throat feels uncomfortable. It feels sore, doctor.”

This 5G Remote Diagnosis Robot can assist doctors in video conference diagnosis. Using 5G network, which is 10 to 20 times faster than 4G, it can receive instructions from the doctor to adjust in lens height and angle, so that the doctor can see more clearly when diagnosing.

Local innovative technology company CEO Poon Ka Yeung said, “Its (The robot’s) neck can be raised or lowered, turning to a better angle. The angle of raising and lowering is also clear and timely. In the 4G or 3G era, you often see videos buffering all the time.”

The speed of 5G also helps companies develop new products, but the networks provided by many telecommunications companies currently only cover core areas such as Mong Kok, Tsim Sha Tsui, Causeway Bay and Central.

A telecommunications company stated that it would take time to install 5G equipment and replace antennas on the roof of the building.

Wong Kam Hang, the director of wireless technology strategy and core network for a telecommunications provider, said: “We focus on commercial areas to provide a seamless, true 5G service. It usually takes 12 to 18 months to build a network.

He expects the 5G network to cover the entire Hong Kong as soon as the end of the year.
