China Daily: Robots on the front line in the war against COVID-19

Roborn’s PEP3000 has been on duty as frontline workers screening out potential coronavirus patients by temperature decetion at the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department in Kowloon Bay since early March. The team reckoned that temperature measurement in public areas will be a new norm for every person and place of business even after this global health crisis.

HKET: Epidemic Prevention Robot Detects People with Fever All around

The body temperature detection robot developed by Roborn was tested at prisons in the Correctional Services Department as well as the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department. At the highest peak, nearly a thousand people passed by the entrance and not a single person was missed. At present, the robot is being used at 3 NGOs, a medical centre and the EMSD.

SCMP: What recession? Hong Kong start-up sees boon making robots that take body temperatures amid coronavirus pandemic

Roborn has produced a robot that measures body temperature. Once someone’s forehead area temperature exceeds a threshold, data will be sent to an operational centre of the robot’s owner for a fast response or follow-up. Roborn’s artificial intelligence software allows the robot to focus on a person’s head for temperature checks, unlike some products in the market which would trigger an alarm even when someone walks past holding a hot object.

Sing Tao: Hong Kong Develops a Mobile Body Temperature Detection Robot

To prevent the epidemic from spreading, EMSD reached out to innovation and technology companies for the development of new technology projects on fighting the epidemic through an online platform. Earlier on, Roborn developed a mobile body temperature detection robot which has been arranged to test at various government departments, such as the Correctional Services Department, Transport Department and Leisure and Cultural Services Department. It is hoped that these robots can be used at various government venues to reduce the work pressure of frontline staff.

Mingpao Interview: Locally Developed Epidemic Prevention Robot Automatically Blocks People with Fever

With the ongoing novel coronavirus, taking one’s temperature has become a necessary action in our daily lives. Roborn Technology, a technology enterprise in Cyberport, developed the nation’s first 5G epidemic prevention smart robot which can automatically detect temperature. The robot can move at a speed of 1m/s. At the top are thermal imaging lens, which can detect body temperature within five meters. As soon as it detects a person with fever, it will immediately issue an alert and prevent the person from moving elsewhere. The robot has already been introduced to local medical centres for trial use.
