Wenweipo: Body Temperature Detecting Robots Create Win-win Situation for Innovation and Epidemic Prevention

EMSD’s special anti-epidemic platform received 217 application in just a mere 3 weeks. The Roborn team said they contacted EMSD in late February; they were arranged to test the mobile body temperature detection robot at CSD, Transport Department, and LCSD sites respectively till 10th March. During the process, they recevied positive feedback from all units, which has helped to continue improve the robot.

Roborn’s PEP3000 has been on duty as frontline workers screening out potential coronavirus patients by temperature decetion at the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department in Kowloon Bay since early March. PEP3000 uses artificial intelligence to support teams of human workers assigned to do everything they can to contain the spread of the disease. The team reckoned that temperature measurement in public areas will be a new norm for every person and place of business even after this global health crisis.

The body temperature detection robot developed by Roborn was tested at prisons in the Correctional Services Department as well as the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department. At the highest peak, nearly a thousand people passed by the entrance and not a single person was missed. At present, the robot is being used at 3 NGOs, a medical centre and the EMSD.
