Dr. Mark Mak, Founder of Roborn Technology, was interviewed by the Committee on Professional Development of Teachers and Principals (COTAP), where he shared his journey from a childhood “robotic hero dream” to dedicating his career to the field of robotics.
Dr. Mak recalled that his passion for animation and robots in his youth inspired him to pursue “inventing robots” as his lifelong mission. He has always been committed to leveraging technology to give back to society. During the pandemic, he led his team to develop the world’s first robot capable of entering an ICU, designed to operate ventilators and deliver medication, thereby safeguarding frontline medical workers.
At the same time, Roborn Technology actively supports local STEM education by designing curricula and teaching tools for students, covering areas such as computer applications, robot assembly, chassis design, and autonomous control. Dr. Mak hopes to inspire the younger generation to apply creativity and knowledge in solving real-world problems, while nurturing local innovation talent to drive the development of Hong Kong’s technology education and industry.
